We aim to show our opening in the same eerie light as this scene from 'Resovoir Dogs'; the juxtaposition of violence and up-tempo music. We intend this to take it a step further using Glenn Miller's 'In the Mood'.
The shot in which the ear is removed will be duplicated in the sense that the camera will draw away from the action to evoke the sense of the camera being a witness; a difference being that the camera will be drawn away at the sight of a gun to the head of the victim.
Mise-en-scene: Bleak warehouse setting -> one single light over hostage-> interrogation?
When main character cuts hostages ear off, camera pans away from action as if it were through the eyes of an onlooker-> doesn't want to look because of extremity
Match on Action; putting on boot
CU; main character talking-> importance; could have been used to make audience feel uncomfortable
CU of victim-> tape around mouth, dripping blood-> evokes state character is in
Juxtaposition of upbeat song as soundtrack to extreme gangster violence
